Smoke Detector: FlareSafe uses a specially designed optical system (approved for airline travel) to detect smoke.

When armed, (top image) by twisting the rear cap a quarter turn, the unit will check for smoke every 5 seconds. If it detects smoke for more than 15 seconds, it will sound the alarm and the light will switch on.

Alarm: The 110db alarm can be heard up to 500 metres away and will last more than 60 hours. The alarm may also be activated separately as a 'SoundFlare' or a distress alarm.

Flashlight: Uses four high-power LEDs (approximate life of 100,000 hours) to produce a powerful beam with a 20 metre effective range and a signal range of two kilometres.

Three power settings: (approximate life on new batteries)

• Full beam (10 hours)
• Half-beam for reading (50 hours)
• Flash Alert (100 hours)

Power Management: The FlareSafe is supplied with three batteries, two AA cells and a Lithium cell. The AA batteries operate all functions all the time, the lithium backup will last several years.

Size: The FlareSafe weighs 230g (less than 8 oz), measures 15cm (6 in) and floats.
